A bit about this newsletter
Before you receive the first newsletter, I wanted to give you a little introduction of who I am as a writer and what this newsletter is about!
I have been writing for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until late into college where I grew brave enough to actually see myself as a writer. It took having a few professors who saw me, the writer, before they saw my writing in order for me to believe I am a writer. That is a big reason why, for years, I have been encouraging others to write through creating prompts for writing compilations. I have come to learn that we each carry with us some insecurities connected to the words we express on a page and many of those insecurities root back to an experience in school where we did not feel seen within our writing. In teaching and with anyone who shares their writing with me for the compilations, I hope to be someone that people feel seen and heard by. Not only are you valuable, but so too are your words. That is why a big part of this newsletter is to encourage others. I want to spur others on into attention, reflection, and creative freedom.
I seek to do so on my writing website and on my social media, but I wanted a different space to write and to connect with others. I find that receiving an email outside of the normal flow of business items is refreshing and exciting. My hope is for these Tuesday emails to bring a pocket of slowness to the fullness that our days can hold.
As Julia Cameron said in The Artist’s Way, “More than anything else, attention is an act of connection”. I so look forward to leaning into attention together.
For those of you who know me, thank you for continuously supporting me with my writing pursuits. It means more to me than I can express. I am so grateful for each of you.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am so glad you are here and I so look forward to connecting with you!
